History of Friends of Wilmington Parks

In 1991, a group of Wilmingtonians became inspired by the renaissance of parks elsewhere in the nation. They organized the Friends Society of Brandywine Park and formed a public/private partnership with the City of Wilmington, New Castle County and the State of Delaware to restore and maintain the park.

• South Park Drive renovation - Read the October 28, 2004 News Journal article concerning the renovation and the ongoing maintenance of this area.

• Jasper Crane Rose Garden renovation - Read about the relocation of the Bringhurst Fountain to its new home overlooking the Brandywine. View a slide show of the relocation process. (requires Shockwave Player; free download from Shockwave.com).
