Friends of Wilmington Parks offers programs to the public each quarter. These are great opportunities to learn more about our parks and celebrate their beauty. FOWP members receive discounted tickets and invitations to sign up early. Check back here for upcoming event details.
Sugar Bowl Sessions are exciting opportunities to enjoy performing arts in the parks. We had so much fun last year, we decided to double up and offer a series of performances this September.
Enjoy Delaware Shakespeare’s performance of The Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged) (revised) (again) on September 11th or laugh along with Fearless Improv and Hot Breakfast on September 24th. Each will provide an evening of drama and laughs that will make you gasp and tickle your funny bone. You can pre-order a boxed dinner from Sherm’s catering and Friends of Wilmington Parks will be selling Wilmington Brew Works beer and hard seltzers to help you enjoy your evening to the fullest. All performances are family friendly and are rain or shine events.

Shakespeare at the Sugar Bowl
This summer Delaware Shakespeare is taking their summer show on the road instead of offering it only at Rockwood Museum. We are excited to be one of the stops on their Community Tour which offers theater in unexpected places – like the Sugar Bowl! This rapid comedic romp transports you through all 36 of the Bard’s plays in under 100 minutes. Complete Works barrels through the tragedies, comedies, and histories with pop culture references, physical comedy and audience interaction, a fun celebration of Shakespeare in our park!

Comedy Night at the Sugar Bowl
If comedy is your thing, then this show is for you! Fan favorite Hot Breakfast! will open with their quirky cover songs and idiosyncratic style. This self-described Dork Rock Power Duo will delight you and make you laugh out loud. Fearless Improv, Delaware’s premier improv troupe, creates comedy on the spot based on audience suggestions and participation. If you’ve never seen improv in action, you’re in for a treat!
